RUSSELL MERBETH

Russ Merbeth is the Founder and President of Bandera Advisors LLC, a boutique lobbying firm offering clients government relations advice and expertise and tailored advocacy campaigns aimed at influencing public policymakers in the US and Europe.

Russ has more than three decades of experience as a telecommunications, technology, and intellectual property lawyer and lobbyist. Prior to forming Bandera Advisors, he was Vice President and Chief Policy Counsel for Intellectual Ventures, an investment and disruptive technology development firm founded by Nathan Myhrvold, Microsoft’s first Chief Technology Officer, and the author of Modernist Cuisine, The Art and Science of Cooking, a James Beard Award-winning cookbook.

Russ holds undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the District of Columbia Bar, and the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States. He lives in Rehoboth Beach, DE, and Washington, DC, and is an avid photographer and bicyclist. In 2016, Russ founded the Mac Merbeth Memorial Endowed Scholarship at Johnson & Wales University to help further the educational prospects of aspiring culinary arts students. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Russ spent six years in New York City as an actor and stage manager and then as the editor of LEADERS Magazine, a quarterly business and political publication with a worldwide readership.
