It's celebration time with MOVE|NYC|!
Join us and celebrity guest host, Carla Hall, for a fun and inspiring evening of dance and generosity for our annual extravaganza at Chelsea Factory. This year's gala features an award ceremony honoring Francesca Harper (Artistic Director of Ailey II) and visionary supporters Sydelle & Lee Blatt. This event will also include live entertainment, buffet dinner, dessert, & cocktails, performances from our Young Professionals Ensemble in addition to alumni in the dance field today, and it wouldn't be a MOVE|NYC| event without a get down After Party with a Live DJ, and more! This will be an evening to remember! In true MOVE fashion, we'll have you and your friends grooving, smiling, and becoming lifelong lovers of all things MOVE|NYC|!

$250,000 GALA CAMPAIGN GOAL!
MOVE|NYC| is in need of your financial support to keep us THRIVING!
We are seeking to raise $250,000 to provide increased and enriched artistic, mentorship, and other critical career opportunities to our young and promising dancers through 7 programs in NYC & DC that are 100% tuition-free. Help us to continue to provide life changing opportunities for dancers. Inspired by the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2013 and founded in 2015, MOVE|NYC| is a leading-edge arts and social justice organization whose mission is to cultivate greater diversity and equity within the dance profession and beyond. MOVE|NYC| intentionally builds diversity within the dance field by providing critical access to career-readiness resources, conservatory-level training, and mentorship for motivated and talented young artists, primarily those who identify as BIPOC and/or lack financial resources to acquire the tools necessary for a career in dance.
Our work has already had a transformative impact on NYC youth, as 100% of recent alumni have matriculated to the nation’s top colleges, conservatories, and professional training programs, including The Juilliard School (15 YPP alumni since 2019), USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, and Boston Conservatory. Alumni have joined leading professional dance companies, such as Ailey II, A.I.M by Kyle Abraham, GALLIM, The FHP Collective, Martha Graham Dance Company, New York Theatre Ballet, Limon Dance Company, Philadanco, and Hofesh Shechter Company. Today, our dancers are beginning to enter the dance field and have joined iconic companies from all over the world, and in many cases, MOVE|NYC| alumni make up a significant demographic of the dancers of color in these institutions and companies. Over the past eight years, MOVE|NYC| has proven itself an essential incubator for the professional dance workforce with national recognition from Pix 11 News in August 2022, Good Morning America’s 2021 Inspiration List “Who’s Making Black History in 2021,” and Dance Teacher Magazine's Spring 2020 cover feature, "Changing the Face of Dance."
