The PRE-YPP is a TUITION-FREE Mentorship & High School Prep Program for New York City’s young pre-professional dancers who demonstrate exceptional potential for a career in dance. The PRE-YPP identifies talent at every stage of technical development and provides critical access to opportunities for professional mentorship and technical training, which prepares each young dancer for a successful high school career.
This comprehensive program consists of:
Summer Intensive (August 4 - 25, 2024)
Professional Mentorship (With Co-Founder Nigel Campbell and leading artists in the professional field)
High School Prep (Performing Arts H.S. Audition Solo coaching, Professional Headshots, High School Application Guidance)
Professional Development (Career Management, Leadership Seminars, Public Speaking Workshops)
Professional Live Dance Performance Viewing (At New York City's top performance venues)

MOVE|NYC|'s PRE-YPP dancers are exposed to the rigor of a professional dance career as they develop into versatile, socially conscious, and well-rounded artists— propelling each young dancer to the next phase of their technical and artistic training.
The PRE-YPP operates annually from August to June and in addition to the primary technique-based programs and/or performing arts middle schools/junior high schools that our PRE-YPP dancers also attend.

ARTISTIC TRAINING
SUMMER INTENSIVE
Summer Intensive (August 4 - 25, 2024)
Technique: Execution, musicality, and performance quality in Ballet and Modern.
Choreographic Collaboration: Working closely with a choreographer on the creation of a new piece to be performed in the annual performance showcase and in year-round community-based performances.
MENTORSHIP
PRE-YPP dancers attend professional mentorship sessions with the Program Directors to keep their goals on track year-round.
High School Prep: Today, certain high schools require professional headshots from young dancers in order to successfully apply to their programs. As such, we provide access to these resources for PRE-YPP dancers in the program.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Career Management: With a focus on public speaking, networking, and professional conduct our PRE-YPP dancers are equipped with the requisite skills to navigate the dance field.
Guest Panel Discussions: MOVE|NYC| bridges generational gaps by connecting our PRE-YPP dancers to relevant, successful, working artists who are reflective of our student body. By seeing themselves represented, our PRE-YPP dancers are empowered to actualize their dreams and aspirations knowing that they are now connected and supported by the leaders of the dance community.
Live Performance Viewing: PRE-YPP dancers regularly attend professional dance performances at no cost, so that they can see the level of dancing to which they aspire.
