Ching Ching Wong is a Manila-born Chinese Filipino American choreographer, performer, and teacher. A Princess Grace Award recipient and one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch,” her work is rooted in delight, maximalist aesthetics, and driven by an enduring fascination with stories. She has created works for Louisville Ballet—most recently in collaboration with rapper Jack Harlow—as well as Boulder Ballet, The Rosin Box Project, Northwest Dance Project, SALT Contemporary Dance, Backhaus Dance, and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago’s CREATE intensive. This season, LED Boise will premiere her first full evening-length program.
Wong previously served as rehearsal director for Ballets Jazz Montréal, touring internationally and stewarding works by leading choreographers including Crystal Pite, Aszure Barton, Andonis Foniadakis, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Juliano Nuñes, and Ihsan Rustem. As one of Rustem’s main choreographic stagers, she has worked with Bern Ballet, Thüringer Staatsballett, Mecklenburg Staatstheater, Codarts, Rambert School, Taiwan University of the Arts, Tanzwerk101, Valencia Dancing Forward Spain, and Moving Arts Cincinnati.
A graduate of UC Irvine, where she studied closely with the late Donald McKayle, Wong began her performing career with Northwest Dance Project. She has since danced with a wide range of artists and companies, including Roderick George, ZviDance, LED, PARA.MAR Dance Theatre, Heidi Duckler Dance, CARLON, YYDC, and OddKnock Productions.
Guided by the belief that dance can unite and transform, she is the founder of Project Salamat—an international outreach initiative spanning 14 countries—and a newly welcomed teacher for Dance Church. This will be her first work with MOVE|NYC and beyond thrilled to collaborate with their young talents and inspirational team.
