Blu Furutate

Blu Furutate (she/her) is a Japanese New Yorker and a recent graduate of The Juilliard School. Professionally, she performed in Sharon Eyal’s North American premiere of R.O.S.E at the Park Avenue Armory and has been an artist with Obremski/Works since 2021, in addition to being the inaugural recipient of The Obremski/Works VISION Fellowship. Most recently, she performed backup for Ariana DeBose at the Lincoln Center Spring 2025 Gala. Blu trained at LaGuardia Arts High School, The Ailey School, French Academie of Ballet, and MOVE|NYC|. She was named Dance Spirit Magazine’s March 2021 Cover Model Search Winner as well as receiving multiple recognitions during her time in school. While at Juilliard, Blu performed works by William Forsythe, Johannes Wieland, Camille A. Brown, and Shen Wei, amongst others. She has worked with artists including Bryan Arias, Gregory Lau, Jie-Hung Connie Shiau, and Sidra Bell. Her choreography premiered in Juilliard’s Choreographers & Composers 2023, Senior Production 2025, and throughout the Arts on Site 2025 season.
