AMBER MAYBERRY

Amber is as much at home on theatrical stages as she is in the arena of concert dance. She made her Washington, DC theatrical debut in ‘Measure for Measure’ at the Shakespeare Theatre, and played the title role of Mary in Donald Byrd’s ‘Black Nativity’. Her other theatrical credits include ‘Oklahoma!’ and ‘On the Town’ at The 5th Avenue Theater and performances with the Washington National, Seattle and Baltimore Lyric Opera houses. For the past ten years, Amber has performed extensively with Disney’s ‘The Lion King’, on Broadway and on two of their national tours.

In addition to her professional obligations, Amber is an advocate for making arts education accessible to all: leading classes in Washington, DC and various workshops nationwide. She has been on faculty at The Dance Institute of Washington for the past twenty years. Other teaching credits: The Maryland Youth Ballet, The Spectrum Ballet School, New Orleans Ballet Association(NOBA), Dancer’s workshop in Jackson Hole, and ‘Reframing the Narrative’ at The Kennedy Center. She has taught for MOVE|NYC| and for their inaugural DC Summer Intensive.
