RACHEL LOCKHART

Rachel Lockhart (she/her), a native of Birmingham, Alabama began her training at the J. Lockhart Performing Arts Institute under her mother’s direction, where she trained in many genres. Rachel is an alum of the Alabama School of Fine Arts and The Juilliard School in New York where she received her BFA in dance. Rachel has performed works by world-renowned choreographers including Robert Battle, Ohad Naharin, Camille A. Brown, Sidra Bell, Rena Butler, Wayne McGregor, Sonya Tayeh, Norbert De La Cruz, Jawole Zollar, Jermaine Spivey and Spenser Theberge. Rachel has also taken interest in choreography herself, setting multiple works that range from addressing worldly issues to cultural experiences. Some of these works have been selected for the Black Lives Rising Dance Film Festival, Dance Against Cancer Youth Movement, Made By Women Festival, Dance Theatre of Harlem’s Open House and Juilliard Choreographic Honors. Rachel has also been exploring live TV, film and opera. She premiered on So You Think You Can Dance Season 17, had a dancing role in CBS’s new show East New York, performed with Doja Cat in the 2023 VMAs and is currently in The Met Opera’s production of The Life and Times of Malcolm X. Rachel is incredibly thankful for the continuous support she receives and wants to inspire everyone to never give up on their dreams and to set goals because anything is possible.
